A man observes a creature at the Highest Point in the county.


July 4, 2006, Wysox:

A family returned home from an outing and heard screams coming from three different locations in the woods behind their home. The following day the children discover a dead deer with its leg wedged in a tree. The deer was dismembered and torn apart. They also found several uprooted trees, broken branches, and two large impressions in the ground. - Follow-up Investigation HERE.


May 2001, near Wyalusing:

While hiking on state game lands near a dam, a man finds a set of huge tracks in the mud.


May 2001, near Wyalusing:

A man hiking in the game lands hears rustling in the woods, and an unknown animal follows the man from the woods to his car.


April 25, 2002, Towanda:

A couple driving along Route 220 witnessed a large bipedal creature standing alongside the road. Upon returning to the area, the creature was gone.


August 27-29, 2000, near Wyalusing:

With activity reported in the area, PBS Investigators explored to look for evidence. On August 27, at the game lands, the members reported hearing unusual vocalizations when entering and exiting the game lands. Investigators also hear heavy breathing coming from a wooded area near a dam. On August 28, the team was approached by an unseen animal. They heard unusual mumbling, grunting sounds, and heavy footfalls. No creature is sighted. August 28 at night at the exact location, the team hears heavy wood strikes on a tree in a field behind them. A search of the area revealed no evidence.


May 14, 2001:

The same man as in the May 5, 2001 report. He heard a series of "hoots," and then something followed them again as they left the woods. It was submitted by PBS.


May 5, 2001:

A man was walking in the woods when he heard something striking a tree and some rustling noises. Then about 30 to 40 yards behind him, again, there was tree knocking. The witness then heard some "thing" walking in the woods following him. No smells or sightings occurred. It was submitted by PBS.


July 2000, near Wyalusing:

while mowing a field, a young man observes a large hair-covered creature spying on him from the forest edge. After turning off the mower, the creature turns and walks back into the forest.


July 2000, near Towanda:

While home alone, a woman hears strange grunting and breathing noises outside her home and hears lumber thrown around the yard. Upon checking the following morning, she found lumber replaced in the original pile.


October 26, 2000:

A man archery hunting near Warren Center had just finished gutting his deer. He heard strange, very hoarse scream-type vocalizations as he finished. He left the woods. To satisfy his curiosity, he returned the next day to find the gut pile completely gone and 15-inch long by 6-inch broad impressions in the ground.


November 2000, Canton:

A man hunting claimed he heard noises coming from pine trees below him. He could hear something walking near a tree. He looked to see something large and brown in color moving. He could see the back and hind end of the creature but no tail like a deer. He waited 10 minutes and walked to the fallen log. He found no animal and no tracks in the snow. He was convinced that what he saw was not a deer.


December 15, 1995, Evergreen near New Albany, not far from Rt. 220:

While hunting in his tree stand, about 20 yards in the woods, A man looked thru my gun site and saw an enormous standing figure behind a colossal hemlock tree. It was upright and looked right up at me as if it knew I was there. I couldn’t shoot it. The creature looked human, but it wasn’t. The creature backed away down the trail, 7 to 8 feet tall brown large waist hands out in front of him.


June 1994, Laceyville:

Man claimed that when he was seven years old and sleeping at his grandparents’ trailer, he awoke late at night by a banging at his bedroom window and saw an ape-like face before it quickly disappeared. Heavy footsteps followed this. The face was described as covered in dark-colored hair with green eyes.


January 13, 1980, Towanda:

Witnesses found 17" x 7 1/2", 5-toed footprints in the snow. There was a 4' 9" span between the bi-pedal tracks. No creature was sighted. -Courtesy of Dr. Paul Johnson and Stan Gordon
